Abe graduated from Van Buren High School, in Keosauqua, IA, in 1994. He earned his B.A. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from the University of California, San Diego in 2001.
Also in 2001, Abe was invited to audit a summer travel program taught at various locations across the island of Cuba and that cultural experience finalized Abe's decision to choose Miami for his legal studies. He earned his Juris Doctorate and graduated cum laude from the University of Miami Law School of Law in 2004.
In law school, Abe earned a place on the University of Miami International and Comparative Law Review. Additionally, he received a CALI Award for achieving the highest grade in his Legal Research and Writing course. He was also honored for earning the overall highest score in his law school's 2001-2002 Moot Court Competition in which he had the highest appellate brief score and was an oral argument finalist.
In addition to taking several classes taught in Spanish at Miami Law, Abe had the opportunity to complete a semester of his legal education at La Universitat Pompeu Fabra (School of Law) in Barcelona, Spain. Abe is fluent in Spanish.
Abe began his Iowa law practice in May of 2013. He is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Currently Abe divides his professional time between Keosauqua and Des Moines with an overriding goal of spending as much time as he can with his amazing wife and their two magical daughters.
